You can do it, but you may be able to see the ridges of the linoleum pattern through the brown paper once it has dried.
I think you should pull the linoleum up first. It would be awful to lay all that brown paper, stain, seal several times only to learn that the linoleum should have been removed.
I have seen pictures of this and really like it. Have you read either on here or Pinterest peoples opinions. Before you do this I would want you to be sure. Good luck!
I have seen these floors on Hometalk and have to admit they are growing on me, at first I thought "no way", just think about it, no 2 are the same. So unique.
