Give it to the family yourself, that's the best way.
I wish I knew the answer to that~sadly it's so hard to trust where you're money is going. The only charity I give actively to is St. Jude's and in the case of a disaster I try to give directly to someone that way I know exactly where it's going and being used where it's needed.
I live close, let me see what I can find out.
in the newsLouis, the Wilson County District Attorney, said at a news conference Monday that two bank accountsare currently being set up to accept donations for the families of the victims. Those bank accounts will be through the Sutherland Springs Community Association with Commerce Bank in Stockdale, Texas, and Wells Fargo Bank.
There are also go fund me accounts for the Holcomb family.
Community giving trees; you get a name, age, and "wishes". All gifts go to person named in tree "ornament". Try churches, schools, Salvation Army, county social services agency for leads to trees. Very personal and 100% goes to person in need.
Ask the pastor ..... in confidentiality of course. You might also ask him to hand the money to the person. My feeling is, ask those who come in contact with those needing help. And never a need to apologize for inquiring anywhere how to help others. God is moving you to do this.
ask local bank/credit union if they accept donations for charity you want to provide to
Contact the church pastor directly.
Use your computer. Scams are reported. Charities are rated by agency similar to Better Bus Bureau. Watch local news channels for their postings of local victim sites. Never go w/your heart. Scammers count on that. GoFundMe & similar can be posted by anyone and several have been fake or wrong family members. Always wait. Chk w/victim's employer or churches. The biggie: Which family member? Mom, wife & kids may not agree or be in the same household. Begging starts without mentioning there is a $50,000 life ins. policy. Do your homework.
That sounds like the best way to go since you're in a different state. God Bless your kind and generous heart.
