What fruit is in question? Some things need refrigeration, some things do not. Never store potatoes, tomatoes and onions together either. See if these links help!

Hello! Sounds like you like your fruit at room temperature. Just purchase enough fruit for a few days so it will get eaten before it has a chance to spoil. Purchase bananas when they are greenish-yellow. Store grapes in the fridge and take them out early in the day if you plan on eating them that night. Cantaloupe, nectarines, plums, peaches, and pears need to ripen out of the fridge a couple of days so only buy what can be eaten in two to thtee days.
When you shop for fruit, buy some to be eaten right away and some that is still a bit green to ripen later. Fruits stored in the same bowl will ripen faster together.
Here are some helpful tips, depending on which fruit you're storing-https://inhabitat.com/6-ways-to-keep-your-fruits-and-veggies-fresher-for-longer/
Don't put apples with the other fruit. They release a gas, that will cause other fruit to ripen faster than normal.
