There are a multitude of command adhesive products available. Have you considered those ?
Command Strips by 3M--Walmart has them as do many other stores
Command Hooks or Strips.
I also use command hooks. Easy to put up and remove. Check the weight limit on the label.
The Command hooks are best and they come in different sizes to accommodate a variety of weights. Also, they can be removed and reused.

If you're not hanging really heavy item's, I have actually used straight pins. Just make sure you push them in well so that they don't bend over.
