when we ripped our out there was mold behind it. We had to replace the “waterproof drywall”
Peroxide will kill the mold if you can get it in where you need it, you also dont have to wipe clean, it is ok to dry on its own. Also not a chemical, yeah.
Do you mean the one piece replacement would be installed OVER the existing tub and tiles? Or just over the tiles? I think the installers would have to answer this question for you. The possibility of mold would be on an individual case and depend on other moisture sources in the wall and whether or not your old tile has mold lingering underneath it. For example, if your bathroom wall has another bathroom/water source/pipes behind it, there could be water getting in from there. The one-piece,if properly installed, should not allow water from bathing to enter the wall behind it. However, your installers might not be able to guarantee this if they can't install the new piece on a "virgin" surface (new cement board -NOT sheetrock, no tile remaining). The tiles might be in perfect shape but then they will get drilled into or otherwise have their seal broken when the new piece is attached..
YES ALL SURFACES GET MOLD SPRAY BLEACH OVER TIME AND SHOWER HEAD TOO IT WILL KEEP MOLD OFF ON A WEEKLY BASIS
USE GREEN BOARD SHEET ROCK THAT'S WATERPROOF BUT DO WHAT I WRITTEN A TOP ALWAYS TO BE SURE NO MOLD GOES ON IT
If the shower and plumbing were installed correctly with no leaks, there would be no way for mold to grow. Get a professional to install it with hardi-board backing.
Thank you all for your input.
