The table difinitly needs something,it appears to look a little on the dated side.
A black top I don't know how that would look.
I do agree with maybe the legs black.
Although from what some have said chalk paint and wax wouldn't be a good idea.

I love a painted table, but unless you're ok with a chippy look, I wouldn't use chalk paint. It's been my experience that it just doesn't hold up well for years and chips easier than regular paint. In fact, if you are going to paint it you might want to use a cabinet paint, one that's rated for high use.
I would not use chalk paint. It collects too much dust. I would sand and stain it whatever color you like. Lowes will mix stain to almost any color under the rainbow.
