Clumping Bamboo Question

I have clumping bamboo in my backyard that is always yellow and losing leaves and it can be quite a mess, I want to get it to green up and look more healthy, can you recommend a way to fertilize it and what times of the year to do so, it is very beautiful when it's not turning yellow on me and dying off, thank you...

If it is yellow and losing leaves it could be in its dormant state during winter. Ours get scraggly looking over the short winter that we have. Spring and summer is when you fertilize. See if this helps!

Depending on where you live, your soil may be deficient in iron. Many plants and trees go yellow during their growing season if they have iron deficiency. Just something to check.
Bamboo is not legal in New England because it is so invasive. Check that first.

Ann - clumping bamboo is not invasive. It's the type with runners that is.
