Just paint it the color of the wall.
Is it in an area of the room where a very long piece of art would work... or a tall bookcase or armoire?
Those plates are made to cover the hole. Anything else you do would be more permanent. Picture, shelving, clock, anything to cover it.
I would not stress over it too much. Anyone buying the house will know what it is for and most likely be grateful you left it. If that is a "deal breaker" then address at that time.
