Tile backsplash when there is existing countertop backsplash
We are thinking about how to add a backsplash to our kitchen. Unfortunately when we had our countertops installed we ordered a small backsplash that comes part way up... See more
I need backsplash color suggestions to go with copper countertop
You see its a work in progress. Walls are rust and green and pennies. What color would compliment the copper?
do you have s specified particular in the backsplash that you like
This beautiful kitchen screams for a tumbled stone backsplash. The light stone will add texture to all the features of your kitchen. Tumbled stone comes in many different shapes. Below would work for you.
Silver Gy or White Metal look...
copper or silver sheeting to bring out the specks in the counter tops
I strongly dislike backsplashes, for 2 reasons: first, they go in and out of style so fast, and it's a lot of work to change; and second, they are usually so hard to clean...greasy spaghetti sauce splattered onto grout, rough-sawn wood, bricks, etc. is a lot of work. So what I do is this: I paint the backsplash area with semi-gloss paint, either the same color as the rest of the walls, or a contrasting color. Easiest surface to clean, never goes out of style.
copper sheeting - comes in a roll. https://basiccopper.com/ or in sheets -
I'm boring, I love that varied colored glass tiles, subway style, but smaller than that.
You can use the same material, if you kike it that much.
white subway tile is almost always a good solution.
Totally agree with Caseyem11. white subway tiles will never go out of style and is a classic look. You don't want to compete with your counter tops . You could always go with a herringbone pattern for something more high end.
I love back splashes. I always use big tiles with small accent tiles to offset. Iāve never had a hard time cleaning mine. With as much as I cook I often have all six burners going and it gets messy. I also love the colors in my granite and used dark tiles to accent the lighter counter top.
We purchased 12x12 sheets of stone-look variegated backsplash from Home Depot; we're not diy's, so hired a friend to glue it on, etc. Looks lovey!
I applied paintable wallpaper that resembles old tin ceilings. I haven't painted it yet so it is just white. It washed easily, even the spaghetti sauce has come right off, and I figure I will paint it when I can't get it clean anymore. I really like it.
I think I would watch some of the designer shows on tv for some ideas. I would go with a light tile because the cupboards are natural and a dark backsplash might look like an abyss.
Consider subway tile that will coordinate with the flooring and countertop.
I have used a travertine 3x6subway with glass&travertine mosaic for a client. It came out beautifully without being too busy. Also planned that in the future he can upgrade to a low back range. Purchased through The Tile Shop keep in mind natural tile and granite needs to be sealed and resealed every 6mo-1yr(basically when you notice spilled water doesn't pool)
I LOVE glass mosaic tiles!!!! They come in a million different colors or solids. A house we rented recently had similar counter tops and there was tin patterned backsplash on the walls there. It looked nice was easy to clean
Faux tin ceiling tiles. Home depot has them in different metal look finishes. They are large, like 18"x18" so putting them up isnt bad.
I love my glass tiles!!! There are pieces of quartz in them too! Tile guy told me it would be a nightmare to clean. HA! Not at all!!! Plus I have a little hand held steamer if it gets really bad. Used once in three years!!!
Glass changes and has movement as the light changesš
a few possibilities below,,,you have a busy granite, so keep your tile work on the more sedate side, otherwise they compete w/one another. Those 4x4 tumble tiles are outdated. No tin, no wallpaper, no glass mixed w/stone in a busy splash,, especially w/your countertop. if you had a solid color top, maybe,,,but only one guy can be the star of the show. You have a traditional, classic style kitchen. don't go muddling it up with stuff that doesn't work. keep it simple, keep it classic.
this is a matte, 3x12, creamy subway tile, laid in a herringbone pattern, from tilebar.com,Byzantine bianco #1. #2 is a random bar in travertine, #3 are glazed bricks from CleTile. (that's on my granite so you can see how it would look on yours)#4 is a glass tile in Sand, Loft,,tilebar.com And #5 is a random linear white glass bar tile.
Slate flooring that looks like wood.
I think a white beveled rectangular subway tile would wake up that kitchen!
Biscuit or white subway tile, classic and nuetral but beautiful
I agree with a few of the others who mentioned either tin or copper. The Home Depot (and I'm sure many other places) has plastic tiles that look like the real deal and a cinch to install. And since they are plastic, they're a breeze to clean. Good luck with whatever you choose!
Lesa, You can always go in houzz.com for inspiration and start a folder. They also link where products are from or you can ask the designer. Look me up Destin4 Interiors if you want to share more ideas. I'd need more info about your overall style and existing color palette to really narrow it down.
