Vinegar
Hi Marilyn,
I'm assuming you mean the inside of the drum. The best thing to use is vinegar & water. The washing soda powder could be leaving behind a residue. If that's the case, it's also on your clothes. :( I would consider changing your washing detergent to see if that makes a difference. In the meantime, here's how to clean the inside of that drum. Wishing you the best.

Stop using washing soda and use regular wash powder a few times to see if that sorts it. If not try Dish wash liquid instead of powder.......Are you getting a good rinse? Not putting too much in each load????
Are you loading the clothes before putting the powdered soap into the washer?... that could be the reason for the white stuff... the clothes are preventing the soap powder from completely dissolving.... to fix this... put the powder into the bottom of the tub and then start the water filling the tub..... after the water is 1/3 or so full... use your hand or a paddle to mix the soap around into the water.... then add the clothes.
Of course you could also switch to a liquid laundry soap.... you want to put in in first too.
The biggest problem I had with powder was getting it all to dissolve due to my hard water. I switched to liquid detergent
Do not use Dish Wash liquid in your washer....you will have suds coming out the top or front....most clothes soaps are low suds. With the trouble you are having, I am guessing you are putting too much soap powder in your machine. I would go to the liquid detergent and use about half the amount recommended. I think after a couple of loads, you will not have that trouble.
