Impatiens
ferns are great- and I had found a number of plants last year at my local green house and walmart that have thrived in the shade. most are small flowers or colored foliage. I have yet to find any big bright bloomers that thrive in the shade.
Impatient do well in the shade.
Woodland plants......
Ferns are good and so are Lillies of the Valley....but both will spread like crazy!
Begonias, violets, and pansies.
Periwinkle .. Tulips. Calla Lilly
Bleeding hearts and Astilbe are beautiful perennials. Impatiens are low flowering annuals that you can add every late spring. Good luck!
Thank you all. I think I may have a soil issue. My ferns have not survived, my bleeding hearts survived two years and the astilbe never broke above ground. I will test the soil and give impatiens a go. Perhaps it's time to plant more hosta.
Heuchera do well in the shade also ♥
As a groundcover -Vinca does thrive-flowers, stays green all winter, can spread if thats not a threat for ypu.
