Poor drainage and excess thatch in the grass usually contributes to it growing out into the yard. I use Lily Miller Moss Out in the granules applied with a spreader to the grass. Then you should also rake the yard after each mowing, and a concentrated raking to remove the dead moss within a week after application. Then you can have the lawn aerated or rent a machine and do it yourself. It removes plugs from the lawn allowing better drainage.

First kill it then keep it away. It's a living thing so you have to try some of these. Hope they help.

Drag up all your moss and use as base for hanging baskets and planters.
Your soil must be acid. Moss loves acid soil. , and low lighting White vinegar in a spray bottle will kill it. (and kill everything) But to prevent it from happening, add granulated lime to your garden. Follow package directions. It should change the PH so moss will not like it.
