Start shopping at local greenhouses, they are sooo helpful! They know what grows best in your zone. Thats the place to ask questions about weeding & plants that spread. Which plants bring in bugs & beetles, color scheems, & different heights. Read the cards attached to every potted plant to find out how long they last. Some flowers are just for the two weeks of spring. Others bloom the month of june, some, all summer! That takes a lot of planning. Get lots of mulch covering (i use newspaper under the mulch).
