I need a space for incoming and out going mail. Baskets/etc.

I have no place to those items and keep misplacing them

    have you tried hanging baskets. Not only would itt be a space saver but would also anchor them to the wall to prevent loss☺

    Get a basket and hang on the wall near the door, get one like this that has hooks for keys too.

    Hang something low profile with slots, watch for at thrift stores or make it inexpensively and decorate a couple of clipboards; tall,narrow baskets with binder clips detached. You could even mount these all on one board and decorate/paint you match your theme. Insert a small cork board area. Endless possibilities

    The one I like is plastic and hangs against the wall, looks like a big V and I have 4 of them on the wall.

    We set up a basket on a small desk by the door leading out to the mailbox. That way there is no excuse for taking the mail elsewhere and has worked well. Outgoing mail goes out the same day, either to the mailbox or to the post office. If you don't have an entry location like we do, I would suggest a mounted basket by the door where the mail is brought in.
