Slip cover might help.....
Slip cover. But don't invest too much. They have ones better looking than this at a thrift shop for about $15.00.
Amazon sells ones for dining chairs. Not sure if they would fit. But you could only use the top portion. About $10.00 to $15.00.
That is not leather. What you have is a fine layer of manufactured leather. The only thing to do is cover it.
it's not leather. There is no cure but to reupholster.
Leather doesn't peel, it wears through after a very long time. My guess is it's pleather. But yes, you can buy or make slipcovers for them.

It was leather it was bonded leather. Be careful when you buy “Leather”.
If you feel like experimenting, cover all the bare parts with Gesso and let it dries. Then paint over it with chalk paint, spray paint, or house paint. But letting it dry before using it is essential. Whatever you decide to do, please take photos and post your success or even failure with painting, slipcovers, or another solution. Great question! ☺️
