This is only affordable if you have an extra mattress lying around. LOL…but in college, we’d take an extra mattress, fold it in half, tie it up, and use it as a bolster on stacked mattresses for a make-shift couch. no reason why it wouldn’t work on a daybed. Or perhaps if you had one of those foam mattress toppers, that would work as well. Many of those are rather inexpensive. Then use the same tying system before covering with a fabric…and tying again for beauties sake, rather than practicality. In college we weren’t very big on interior decorating, so I can’t help there. But I’m sure your own sense of style can help finish off the project.

How about inexpensive bed pillows in shams, attached to the back of the day bed with ties or Velcro? Not exactly a bolster, but it works!

I've used bed pillows rolled and tied. Three standard pillows would make a queen size bolster. Choose fabric or a twin sheet you like and lay pillows so that there is enough on each end to tie with a ribbon or cord.

Get a bunch of pillows and sew ribbons to the corners and tie to the frame, easy to change when you get bored with them and even easier to wash the covers.Did this years ago with my toddlers bed so she didn't hurt herself on the iron frame.

Bind 5-6 pool noodles together with duct tape, forming a larger tube. Cut length to desired size using electric knife. Wrap with old blanket or bedspread to smooth the surface. Then cover with batting. Finally, upholster in desired finish fabric, closing seam by hand. (Alternatively, you might machine-sew the finish fabric--wrong sides together--into a tube, leaving ends open with extra seam allowances. Turn right side out and press seam flat. Stuff covered noodles inside the fabric tube.) Finish ends by tying extra length with coordinating ribbon, or create tailored ends by cutting circles from finish fabric that include seam allowance. Turn seam allowances on the ends as well as on circles to the inside Whipstitch closed. Add decorative trim to hide seams, if desired. Fatter or thinner bolsters result from increasing or decreasing the number of pool noodles.

Body pillows? I use one as a "headboard" on a full-size bed in a guestroom.

Good idea! She can use king pillows along w/the body pillows. I have a family heirloom twin iron bed. I plan to put it against the wall & make it into a sofa for one of my bedrooms/office.

If you google "foam for bed bolsters" you'll find a multitude of options for what you're looking for. I found a fairly resonable website you might want to check out.

Goodwill always has good deals on donated blankets. Grab a couple (launder them before you begin of course 😊) and cut them in strips as wide as you’d like the bolsters to be. Roll up the strips and bins lightly. Cut a strip of fabric about 6” wider than the blanket stuffing. Roll it around the blanket and tie on the ends like a piece of candy! You may also want to finish the ends of the fabric with fray stop or iron on aeam tape.
