Can put in a closet or utility/laundry room but we have one in our bedroom and each bath and there's really no need to hide them I don't think. Maybe just different strokes for different folks!

I store mine in the hall linen closet. It's in a central location for all to find and use. No excuses. Best of luck.

I put it in our second room's (guests) closet and get it out when friends using bedroom....then it goes underneath a small desk next to stairs.

  • Mine is in my closet. But I live alone and am pretty neat and tidy. When I was growing up, the house was old and there was a main bathroom, no en suites in those days. But the main bathroom was a decent size. My dad made a clothes hamper that looked like a piece of furniture and it sat in there till my parents passed.

In a closet for a permanent fix, in the shower when company comes.

If you 'hid' your laundry baskets inside a movable box cabinet on wheels, similar to this idea, the inside function would be disguised, the baskets would no longer be a messy eyesore, and it would give you a small counter surface to rest things on.

This is a great idea, and I have already considered putting them in the closet but didn't want the clean clothes to absorb the bad smells from the dirty ones or anything like that to happen

There shouldn't be too much odor transfer from the dirty laundry to the clean clothes as long as you don't keep them in the baskets too long before going into the washer and kept the closet door open at night and when you are not at home just to ensure air circulation. If you were concerned about possible odor transfer from wet clothes or wet towels, you could always line the basket for these items with a plastic trash bag, or put the really stinky wet stuff in a plastic trash bag in the freezer (temporarily of course!) until you can actually wash them.
