the walnut trees secrete a substance from the roots that can kill off any plants near it. You might get by with raised beds or an assortment of potted plants. Hosta has a version called mouse ears, realy cute. Go to a plant nursery, check out what is in the shade area....it’s different plants for other growing zones.

moss, most ferns and hostas (some have colorful leaves), astilbe, hellbore, St John's Wort are obvious, I have seen Forget -me-nots growing in the lawn around walnut trees before, so they seem to be immune to them.

and Loosestrife, either the 'bishop's' (white, drooping flower spikes like a shepherd's crook) or 'firecracker' (bronze leaves, small very yellow flowers)

oh, and Lily of the Valley, which could not care less about the walnuts or the shade.

First question I would have is rather or not the walnut trees are English walnuts or BLACK Walnut trees. Black walnut trees make the soil around them toxic up to 5X the size of the crown of the tree. Nothing you grow in their shadow will be anything but poisonous. Eating any fruits grown too near them can cause stomach cancer. The county extension office will gladly assist you in identifying the trees. They have posted warnings for over 30 years about these trees. So be aware!
