Put moss lining in and use as planter outside.
Fruit is my thought or eggs (even artificial)
You might try wiring two tops together and make table like one they show on this site, I also think you could paint and decorate for light covers, or cove with fabric for lamp shade. Please let us know what you do. Oh you could put fabric or something inside and use for storage.
Maybe paint and add silk or plastic flowers as if they're planted? Put a couple together with alternating posts to use for basket weaving? Wrap with solar lighting at both ends or even one? Add Christmas lights and make decorative display?
I made a lamp shade for the hanging lamp in the entry hall (over a round table) and attached old family pictures. Two smaller ones similar to yours are in work for the guest room hanging over night tables. Those will be decorated with a few small silk flowers, or maybe with old keys, the possibilities are endless.
Can you feed or cover with lights and hang from tree or shepherd hooks for night time lighting? It's hard to estimate their size but you could put some succulent'so in as well as they require lite maintenance and watering. I would love them out front by entrance with decorative seasonal items even if they are fabric flowers and a nice little welcome sign or your homes numbers. They just look inviting as is. Weave a ribbon and hang a welcome sign with basket upside down.
:Ghost" lampshades or pendant light shades with the clear Edison style LED lights.
Maybe line it and add a plant, then add some silverware or what ever you like to the bottom for a wind chime - double duty :)
I would use it as a lamp shade in the kitchen. I have one over the sink and love it!
You could use these to store light bulbs, fake fruit (somehow I find fake fruit tolerable but not fake flowers) large sea shells, the china decorated balls they sell at places like Xmas tree shop, hand towels in the bathroom, kids books, Line it with a napkin and use for a bread basket. I like the lamp shades others have posted but for me that is not something I need. I like the versatility of this kind of holder. I even like the way they look just hung,
I have seen something very similar to these, spray painted lovely colours (or copper) and various size bath towels and or wash cloths rolled up in them, standing or sideways, maybe with decorative soaps here and there for guest bathrooms. Also painted to match rooms for mag or book holders. What about copper coloured for small wood holders beside fire place?
Make a hanging column and use a few of them to store potatoes and onions or fruit.
