What are the best coverings for a cement floor?

We are turning an integral garage into a bar/TV room. My boyfriend built the bar & now we are looking for flooring to cover a cement garrage floor. We almost went with NatureStone but canceled because it was too expensive. We were thinking of carpet tiles, but worried about moisture.

Thanks! What type of primer did you use? Did you use an epoxy to seal it?

i used a primer from lowes a Valspar- stainblocking Bonding primer / sealer

then painted w Valspar Duramax- exterior satin, a tan color paint. Then i used Behr semi transparent concrete stain (not the dye)- color gas to be made - used the darkest- something like Loden, to get the multi color - i rolled on & once it was partly dry i did a second time in random pattern - carefull its dry enough not to pull off the color you 1st put down.

when all done i did a polyurathane for floors over top, 2 coats

I saw it done on a post several years ago.

If your slab is in good shape & a pretty much the same all over, you maybe able to skip the prime & paint - I had all kinds of over spray on the slab from them painting the walls and had to scrape up all the glue marks from the carpet padding - so i did the paint to give me a blank slate to start with

Have you thought about a cork floor? Softer and warmer to stand on.
