Start with white kraft paper instead of brown paper bags, and then wipe it down with a colored wood stain before sealing it.

This is just a guess on my part, but I think you would need to purchase pre colored bags. Maybe from a dollar store or party shop? I would think that adding a paint or dye to the brown bags wouldn't give good color and would run upon varnishing them.

Anything you want! Paper bag flooring imitates leather, and how many colors have you seen leather dyed? Tons, right? Here are a couple of pics I pulled from Google, also a link to a blogger who tested several different color stains on bag flooring: http://www.domesticimperfection.com/2014/04/the-paper-flooring-experiment-part-ii-stain-options/ Me, although I love the richness of the brown stains, I can imagine a lovely dark green or a rich navy. Good luck, and please share your final outcome.

I read that you can use Rit dye and white craft paper to do floors. She said the paper needs at least 24-36 hours to dry and set the color, then she dyed it a second time to get the color she wanted and again let it dry 24-36 hours. The photo she shared was beautiful dark blue..

Thank you all so much. Especially Bobbie. I want grey in one room, but I also want a light color for guest bedroom.
