Clean and then paint

I agree clean and paint. Others might do white shabby chic. The brass hardware makes me lean toward a high gloss black oriental look. Either way outline the drawers and doors with split pieces of bamboo. Or maybe do an intricate pattern encompassing the whole front. Need to see it painted to decide. Heres some examples for the dresser.

Cant see the whole headboard so just guessing. Outline the insert with bamboo. Add a brass medallion outlined with a bamboo square and then fill in with more bamboo strips. . If your medallion is small you might need to divide the insert into two or three panels. Heres an example of an oriental furniture medallion.

I'm probably not making sense but I can see it in my mind. :D

White paint would rejuvenate it nicely. White wicker is ageless and timeless. I believe I saw in the paint dept a spray paint especially designed for wicker furniture. Perhaps some other Hometalkers have had experience using this?

I think it would look so great and fresh if you paint it white!

if you are still looking for a wood color i would recommend rubbing it down with a scotch bright or steal wool and some de-glosser then look at gel stains to see if you like any of the colors. the steel wool would break down the existing lacquer and the de-glosser would make the remaining area accept the gel stain. give it a try on an area before you do the hole thing. hope this helps
