Hi there, they make specific masonry sealants just for that purpose. I would ask at my local home improvement or hardware store.

Yep1 There are specific sealants for concrete, stone, and brick. Thompsons water seal is generally a sealer for wood.
Sealing is supposed to help prevent the bricks and mortar from absorbing water and "spalling". Thompson's does indeed make products that work on brick and masonary. There are many brands out there. If you live in an area with freezing weather. it might be worth it to seal.
