I'm wondering how i could update this moss rock fireplace?
![Lisa](https://cdn-fastly.hometalk.com/media/profile/2021/08/22/216413_1.jpg?size=50x50)
It's very dark & covers a whole wall in the room. I thought about putting Airstone over the moss rock, but I don't think I can because it's not a flat surface.
If you did not like the white wash paint it a different color to go with your decor
Have you thought about re-staining it to a darker color to contrast your walls and make it your focal point?
I love the look of it as is. If you are looking to change it up a bit you could do a light coat of a darker stain or gel stain to create more contrast. I would do that last - try a dry brush paint on the brick first. This may give you the contrast that makes this beautiful wood pop!
You can make it over with airstone-https://www.hometalk.com/diy/living-room/fireplaces-mantels/diy-fireplace-surround-using-airstone-6789843?r=1
DIY Fireplace Surround- Using Airstone

Try giving the bricks a limed look! or use a dark stain on the fire surround and above the mantle white as the other cladding is and add a large picture or Mirror.
You could always go for grey. Consult the family first!
Hello, how about painting it a nice shade of grey? Grey is my got to for sure! Hope these inspire you
