Try checking out Flor, they make carpet squares and they’re beautiful. They make different colors, styles and textures. I always order a few extra just in case. I would expect a low pile would work for you cats.

Avoid loop carpeting of any variety as the cats sure to get their claws entangled. Cut loop is fine.
