Can I change the trim without changing the door jams and doors from oak to white?

Keep in mind that the white baseboards will show everything. I would rather leave them oak, add some trim to the top and paint the door frames & doors white.

If all you want to do is change to white, then you can paint it in place. Most painters paint trim after it's installed, I like to paint it before, but I'm not a professional. There is no reason to remove it if it's in good condition. And you can paint your door jams also. I would leave the doors oak, but you could paint them too. Just be sure to sand them to rough them up to hold the paint.

Yes, you can paint them white if you like right in place. Since it is oak it will probably soak in the paint, so be prepared to do more than one coat.

By the way, I didn't mean you had to paint them white-you can paint them whatever color you want-but you should use an enamel-most use a semi-gloss so they can easily clean it with a wiping cloth.

I wouldn't replace them, I'd just paint them. Then I paint the door jams, the door casing .. lol I'm not a fan of oak trim (I know many like it).
