You can use the rings to make dream catchers, or for hanging plants. You can turn it upside down, add a bottom to the smaller opening cover the shade in fabrics and use it as a bin for magazines etc.
if you have a little girl, use it to hang sheer fabric for a princess bed
You could make a hanging lamp
Can you be a bit more descriptive? what kind of shade i.e. drum? Is it a lamp? what kind of lamp? you have a picture? You can always take the old shade and put new paper or fabric on it. I've done tons of them, and there are videos on YouTube on how to do various types of shades.... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+recover+a+lampshade I always liked using parchment paper or fiberglass paper that I got at Tap Plastic, I would get parchment/rice papers at a local art store.
