Me too! I'd start by thinking of "stations," such as a gardening station or area, tools, sporting equipment, seasonal stuff, etc. Purge what you don't use and create storage for what you do. Shelves, cabinets, racks that are ceiling mounted, all kinds of possibilities.

The used cabinets are great, our garage had some already installed and they are great to store a lot of things, I even use one for those oversized cooking pots that never seem to fit in the cupboards anywhere without taking up too much space. Shelving units or putting up your own shelves are really good ideas. You can get kits to make work benches, or fashion your own with good sturdy wood. Peg boards work well for getting tools up and out of the way. Shelves next to the work bench works out for storing bigger, heavier tools and bins with all the little things that have the separate drawers. Once you get started, it is a lot easier to figure out what you need, once you get rid of the things that you don't need anymore.

Ella or Rubbermaid shelving! Agree with Nicki, about stations. One side of our garage is set up with workshop stations, tools, saw, and tool chest. The other side is for gardening, cleaning, and household staples.
