I think that would work, just don't forget to put something under it like parchment paper that you could peel off when you are ready to install it.
Glue them, arranged, on the mat then it’s easy to glue the whole mat on the table top. Just be sure you have the correct dimensions of the table top.
Yes, any fabric would work. You might invest in some double-sided carpet tape to keep your placements secure.
Yes! Here's an example of mesh available: https://www.delphiglass.com/mosaic-supplies/tools-supplies/mosaic-mesh?source=froogle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIie6d1aqP2gIVVLXACh0wBgCOEAQYASABEgJuTvD_BwE
I've done this with Masonite. You can get really thin material and it's sturdy. A 4'x8' sheet should be around $7-8.
there is a product made especially for this. It is called QuikStik fiberglass mesh, used for mosaic. Sticky on one side, holds the mosaic very well. I get mine at skeew.com. Google it, it may be available on Amazon, or other mosaic sites. You may want to google "mosaic supplies" as well.
sorry, the web site is skeew.biz, and it's cheaper there than amazon
I would lay out your design after you have played with it , then take a picture of it, pick up your toys, box them, take them with you and recreate the prettiness when you are home, You may change your design mind when you see it in the intended area.
My Dad used to say "Drive fast so you won't be in danger as long." Thanks!
Hi Rhonda, you can get this canvas at places like Michaels! It's perfect for what you want to do!

Good idea from Terry Clark, you and they in CA may have different takes on your mosaic.
