Pat, it depends on a lot of things--- what the function is of this room (living room? dining room? ), what kind of furniture you have, your decorating style, etc. Please let me know a little more about you and your home and I will be happy to help you!

I am reading a book about French decorating just now. I love the way your wall looks, but for decoration what about antique maps? Of France? Unless they are paintings, I, personally do not like to see photos of people on walls. (that is a generalization and it depends on the room etc) Since the two items you do have seem rather on the small size and as if you intend them to be the focal point you would be kind of limited to having smaller items on display there. It would be good to see the entire room to give thorough advice. I think it depends upon the size of the room, your taste, your interests. How much wall space you have. We have small rooms but they are separate and I have every square inch of wall space covered, to the degree that I have hung an original drawing on the handles of the fireplace doors! But we are collectors, my husband is an artist and a woodworker and we are confident in what we do.
