sprinkle grass seed.........water..........
Need more info...1st your location, then the type if grass you had.. and if it is shade or full sun
apply a few inches of top soil, lime grass seed for you lawn type, starter fertilizer and top with peat moss.keep moist until germinated
You are going to have to reseed. They just trenched your lawn, and any grass probably got buried. If you know what type of grass you had, that is helpful, since different varieties have different textures and colors. Then, spread the seeds and keep moist until they start to grow.
I would call the town and tell them about this situation. They should have had you sign to do this work and they also should be responsible to return your property to the original.
Jane, I had a similar problem some years back. We found a seed and feed in a bag that all we had to do is lay it down and keep it wet. It grew fast and looked really nice. It was fairly inexpensive, which was important because at that time we lived in a rental and didn't want to invest too much into the place as it was not a long-term living situation, just a place we were renting until we found a place to buy. I would buy it again, but unfortunately I cannot remember the name. All I remember is that it was purchased at the Walmart garden center, and when we put it on the ground it was blue or blue/green in color.
Was the soil left in good condition for you to sprinked the grass seed (not left with sub soil on top,) but top soil? How long ago did you set the seed? How old was the seed? din you rake the seed in, and cover lightly with more soil? Was it protected from the birds? If all else fails, call the Town Council and complain about your situation and ask for them to reinstate the area for you................
