Check with a floor store, it might not be level. The tiles have grooves, and the self-stick don't. When you buy the self-stick tiles, make sure the numbers on the boxes are the same. These are lot #s, which were all done in the same background shade. Also measure the rooms and when your going to purchase the tile, the store will tell you how many boxes you'll need. I would not lay vinyl tile tiles over ceramic tiles. It would be best to remove those ceramic tiles.

Laying any kind of tile is a lot like painting - the better your prep, the better your outcome. It might work for awhile, but, you want a clean, level surface to start with.
