Repair rockers on a rocking chair

I have 2 Rocking chairs on my front porch that are not hurt anywhere except where they sit on the porch when it rains and there is rot in a small area that makes a bumpy rock when sitting and trying to rock. Ideas of how to repair or replace the feet or rocker part.

Have you tried sanding them down to create a smooth surface?
I would try to fix/fill the rotting areas with plastic wood, give it all a good sand and think about painting the chair with a good exterior paint to prevent further damage
