This is a project someone was asking about yesterday. its for a bottle, but I don't see why you couldn't do it on your glass top. It might need some sort of poly sealer if you use the table top surface a lot, but it should work

Faux Stained Glass Quick and Easy
Thanks Lenora Lynn I’ve been wanting to try this project since last summer and hope this year I’ll finally accomplish it. Greatly appreciate your help.
There are kits at the craft stores that have ideas ad instructions. If you are using the table at all it should be done on the back side to protect your hard work. I checked out the Sharpie method, and I think paint will give you more even coverage.
You could also do a glass etching if you were to do the liquid stained glass do it on the underneath not the top
Stained glass works great if there's light coming through. I would go with something changeable. You can put anything under the glass and it will show through. Fabric, paper, photos, even paint made from food coloring and clear Elmer's Glue. Be adventurous. Blessings
any kind of paint will stick to glass, if it is on the wrong side (or back of your project) these pieces all have paint over the decoupage. Any kind of paint can be used, latex, oil, any kind of sheen. The problem with trying to make your glass look like stained glass is that the lead between stained glass pieces is very prominent and it would not look so done on the back of the thick glass.

You could glue some of those round, flat bottom glass jewels to the top in any colors or designs. I have found these not only at crafts stores but at Walmart. You may want to do a search on Hometalk or even on google or on HGTV FYI for some ideas to use those glass jewels in different designs...I also just thought about Pinterest....great ideas there check this out...https://www.pinterest.com/pin/299770918940068472/ or you could do a search on pinterest for how to do stained glass on a glass top....good luck. Oh p.s. would love to see what you do come up with
Try a product called Galaxy Glass, it's sold at Michael's.

I did my front door windows with plastic paint for making stained glass look. The paint apply to the inside. Sold in most crate stores called gallery glass. You can use their liquid lead or strip lead. Buy the set of paints and enjoy!
That’s GOGEOUS ❤️ Thank you for your input, much appreciated.
