How to remove old pieces of furniture?

Recently we renovated our dining room. Our dining was not that attractive compared to the other parts of the house. I thought a makeover was necessary. The furniture in my dining room was so old. Actually, my grandparents bought them long years back. We bought furniture and dinette table from one of the furniture stores in Calgary. The dinette was pretty awesome and it was best suited for our dining room. I want to remove the old pieces of furniture from my house. First I thought of furniture removal and disposal services. But those items of furniture are not that damaged. I don’t want to dispose of it completely. I think it is good to consider donating the used furniture to any local habitat restore. Do you think so?

Donating is always a good idea! A thrift store is another idea. Both Habitat Restore and Thrift Stores will often come a pick up large items.

For sure donate them, someone will love it.

  • After my parents passed away, there was no way I could keep all their furniture, nor did I want all of it either as I already had a furnished home, but did keep the pieces my dad made. I sold some of it that fetched a decent price, gave some to friends and what was left, I donated to Habitat for Humanity. Was so easy! And they were so happy to, and glad it went to people that needed it. There are a number of charitable organizations that love old furniture, just Google to see who in your area is available to pick it up.

You can also list them on a local website like Craigslist. If you have the price reasonable or free, and stick to your guns with not delivering, someone will come and remove them for you. Usually well priced and free furniture will go the same day.

    - To me I would prefer old over new, as it is probably good wood. Don't discard . I would check first with other family members who may want something that belonged to grandparents. Charities will always take it to sell to make money for their cause.
