do you know what kind of hydrangea you have? some require full sun while others prefer shade. Same with pruning the plant back in fall or early spring, some types produce flowers off of new wood while others produce on new wood. You might try fertilizing the bush as well.
Give Roses a bit of time.............Maybe pruning at the wrong time?
