It takes 3 years after you plant them to get full blooms. How deep are they planted...you should be able to see the rhizomes or should be just below the dirt. They won't bloom if planted too deep, dig off the dirt from the top of the plant now for it to bloom this year.Helpful Reply -

Peonies need ants to open them. We literally trapped and carried some ants to our new yard and place when our peonies did not open one year. AFter that, we had no problems.1 marked as helpful Reply -

My grandmother always said, the best time to plant/transplant, is in August to September. Also their feet (root system) don't like to be too warm. How deep are they? YES, ants VERY important to the peonies - helps with blooming! Plus patience! I also, had a plant, seemed forever but has MANY blossoms now! Good luck!Helpful Reply -

Wanda, actually the problem with your peonies is that they are planted too deep or mulched too deep. Peonies are roots that do not like to be planted too deeply into the ground or they will not form buds. They don't care about much else other than that.Helpful Reply -
