HELP.....What's wrong with my tomatoe plant

hello folks, I would like to know if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong??
im probably over or under waterintg my topsy turkey tomatoe plant.

Janet, I've tried the Topsy-Turvy tomatoes more than once, and failed! You have to water them from the top, which means the water goes to the head of the plant instead of the roots, where it should stay. Another reason I think they fail is because the "bag" they're in is not "breathable" like the soil is when planted in the ground. I hope my experience helps. Also, I could be wrong.
Never grown Topsy Turvy tomatoes so this is just a guess. They look like they aren't getting vitamins. Are you fertilizing and watering. Suggest water and fertilizer in your water. Also try 1or 2 tablespoon of Epsen Bath salts as they may need Magnesium. I always put it around plant then water. I have know friends who grew them without issues but Rose Broadway may be right. Are you deep watering them. Perhaps they get too dry between waterings then water drains out quickly when you water and roots have no chance to suck it in. If so wait a minute and rewater and it should soak the dirt. Could they be getting too much hot sun. Not enough water can also mean they are not receiving any vitamins from their fertilizer. Sometimes we have to put a shade cloth over our garden tomatoes when it is an extremely hot day 85 to 90's. Since they are hanging and near the house which reflects the heat back on them I would suspect that and that pool also reflects the sun's rays back. Also what part of the country do you live in. Some areas are too hot in summer for Tomatoes. Arizona dessert areas are one. They grow better there in winter.
Had the Topsy Turvy tomato plants too, they are a study in high maintenance...roots dry out fast so the plant is not getting needed nutrients and water, even when the top (root end) is covered with a cloth to prevent further evaporation. Have to move it when it gets too hot.
Have grown these in the past, it is a pain but i used to take mine down first thing every morning place roots in a 5 gallon bucket full of water for 15 min take out & rehang, that way dirt stays moist & roots can absorb water & nutrients instead of just pouring watee in bag & it running out. also once a week GENTLY massage the bag to keep the soil loosened up so it doesn’t become a block of concrete
I gave up on those and hesitate to try again but I LOVE tomatoes. Maybe I’ll follow the hints in Janet’s link. By the way, very pretty pool!
Maybe your plant would do better if you learned how to spell T-O-M-A-T-O.
I was guessing that they sunburned or were exposed to frost. Here, in Kentucky, we had at least one late frost.
The purple color is a symptom of phosphate deficiency. This is common with small containers and potting soil not supplemented with a fertilizer. The chemical nature of Phosphorus does not move in soil very well, even when in solution. I have not grown the inverted plants before, geotropism is a natural proce of plants to grow towards a light source making it an additional stress.
