no....you need to water first in the morning before the how sun and if need be late afternoon but not night time
You can water when the sun is strong, but avoid getting on the water on leaves, as is could burn the leaves. If you want to water during the day, the best way is to use a drip type hose that you can set up in the garden and leave it their all the time and just turn the water on and off. If you just want to use a hose the best time is early in the morning so the water that is on the plants can drip or dry off before the sun is real strong. I have been told not to water too late in the day so that the soil isn't too wet over night.
Hello Alba, I have had plants with sunburned leaves by watering them late on a hot summer afternoon, and I don't want to wait until the sun is down because the moisture just makes for a mosquito magnet. I did some research and found this artile which I found to be most interesting (below) and it got me ot thinking "Look at all the healthy plants that have received rain on a bright and sunny summer day, whether morning or afternoon. It is NOT always gray and overcast in the summer when it rains ... hmmmm" So with that bit of reasoning going on, here is the article that I found to be interesting enough to share with you:

fyi for all of you ,,,,you should not water when the sun is hot .there is no benefit as the roots will not get wet enough....please do your homework before answering the question.
Watering when the sun goes down can cause fungus, disease, and mold to settle in the soil and on the plants. Better to water in the morning or afternoon so the plants get the moisture they need and give time for the soil to warm up and dry out.
Watering in the evening creates a cool moist climate that promotes mold and mildew, root rot plus mosquitos. Always water before 10a.m. And like Tonya said, water to roots not the leaves. The roots are directly under the outermost leaves. As it gets warmer after 10, excess water evaporates.ask your local nursery about how much and how often to water. Plants differ widely. Hope this helps!
You get more bang for your effort if the sun is down or going down when you water. Water evaporates more in bright sun.
Thank you guys for the advice on watering my plants and veggies.
Definitely agree water early in the day and then plants can dry off before the sun sets. Damp plants = mold and fungus...
The best time to water is early morning. If you water at night there is a possibility you will get mildew. Do not water in the hot sun. If you are doing it in the afternoon before 6 p.m. and the sun has faded then that should be okay too.
Early morning is optimal, the sun can dry off the leaves and the roots can soak up the water.
