do you still want to use for food prep or for a potting bench?
Not knowing if you want to use it for porting area of grilling area, two things you could do for either are: you could paint the brick and tile the top.
i want to use it for grilling
Start by power washing. You might be surprised how inviting it looks after that. Do everything. The grill, the brick and the patio. Then I would repair and paint the two doors and trim with a new color. I'm not found of the contrast with the red brick, so I'd recommend a dark taupe or maybe black. Then set up your grill tools, etc, so it's easy to cook there
Not sure what type of budget you are working with but I would power wash and the add new tile to countertop and back splash. I would paint brick in a solid color (or whitewash) the bottom portion. Remove doors, sand to remove rust and spray paint same color as brick. Add new handles. Add a bar across the front to hang utensiles. A dark color where soot tends to collect will help keep it clean looking.
