When you say decorate -do you mean Pretty it up or Paint it?
Do people need to travel the length of this porch to get to the door? Then you'll need to keep a walk way clear. If not, try breaking up the length of it by creating a small seating area that comes out perpendicular with the wall of the house, either with chairs or a small loveseat, rug, table, etc. Then the back of the porch can be used for a lounge chair or tables with plants, etc.
Break it up into sections. A sitting area, a display area (plants, statutes) and a gazing area (rockers).
