Most orchids bloom twice a year with little care. Tepid water soaks once a week, then drained well, never ice cubes. You do need to know if you have a more specialty orchid, or the common one. A bright south window without direct sunlight is what they like best. Mist once in a while if your house is dry. I would not put mine outside, I would be too afraid of the gnats and mites causing a problem.
