there are transition pieces available
You can buy transition strips. They are sold in pieces that perfectly match your flooring, and they are super easy to install. You just cut it to size and screw it down to the floor. Even if there is a slight difference in height it won’t be noticeable.
Hi Peg they make specific strips just for this purpose. The most cost effective would be one made of steel (or aluminum) but they also make them out of wood that you could stain to match your new floor!
There are lots of different types of transition strips you can choose from, here's a link to some images of different types: https://www.google.com/search?q=flooring+transition+strip&rlz=1C1GIGM_enUS723US723&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjltvzgj6HbAhXQq1kKHfdMABkQ_AUICygC&biw=1280&bih=893
