Three things can be wrong. One wrong dishwasher detergent. I know I tried Costco's brand for a while and OMG MISTAKE. I now use either finish or cascade. Costco's brand also gunked up my dishwasher. We took it apart to clean it. You tube it. Cleaning the dishwaser is easy. But it took over 3 hours to get it perfectly clean. Three- try using vinegar in an empty dishwasher. That is how I now keep mine clean. And glasses sparkle.

Thank you, I use finish now & my dishwasher is almost new, so I don't think it is that. I pretty much wash my dishes before I put them in. So am also using vinegar for a rinse.

Use JetDry in your dishwasher or something similar.

if they are already cloudy try this:
Heat up a pot or dutch oven filled with water and 1/4 cup of vinegar and a little dawn. Turn off heat, put glasses in making sure they fill up with the water, leave overnight. In the morning rinse and dry. Can also put in knives and forks and they will come out very shiny.

If nothing takes out the cloudiness, most likely they are etched and it won't come out. The rinse agents help once you have the cloudiness out. I never put glassware in the dishwasher if it means anything to me, especially good stemware, just for that reason.

Usually it's from using too much detergent. There is no ideal amount, and it depends mostly on how hard the water is. Try using less once your glasses are clean. It won't clean the film off but will keep this from continuing to happen.

Terriober is right, vinegar is the solution for cleaning the film from glassware. I actually soaked mine in the sink with vinegar and used a nylon scrubbing pad. The worst took several treatments.

Thanks for reminding me why my dishwasher is seldom used.

LemiShine is what we use, a Walmart special. It is inexpensive and works. WE ran a load with a full soap dispenser but no dishes. That cleaned the minerals from the dishwasher. Now we add a little to the side of the pod in the dispenser each time we do the dishes

No scratches or etching, just cloudy.
