I bought a tomato plant from Publix and attempted to grow it in my Florida Room but that didn't work. So I planted it in my backyard, but thinking back I should have planted it in a large container to keep the bugs from eating the leaves & tomatoes. Rick Allen
In ground works best for me. One of my neighbors does the hanging bags upside down and they do reasonably well. Just depends on your situation and preference.
I've heard that a lot of people have great luck with topsy turvy planters - they take up less room plus you don't have to stake plants. Can get very heavy though so be sure you secure them to sturdy base.
I have been gardening for many years now. I have tried growing tomatoes upside down, in containers and in the ground. My favorite, by far, is growing them in the ground. I have had much better harvests from growing them in the ground. Best of luck to you.
In Lee County, Florida it works best to have tem in planters to keep the bugs from eating the leafs and the tomatoes. Rick Allen
