Cats and dogs at my house too. I use vinegar or boiling water. Easy, quick and almost free!
pull each one up then pour boiling hot salt water into the cracks. then get some paver sand for the cracks.
paver sand hardens. the ants won't take up residence in it. it's not your typical sand.
