You didn't say where they were in relation to a water source. Can you hook up one of the curly hoses to reach them? The other option and a good one is to use the gel mixed into the soil. It will retain water and you won't have to water as often. Or... move the plants if they are in pots. If they are, maybe a permanent move or put them on rollers or in a cart to bring them closer to the water source.

Hi Kathy, For a vegetable garden, place milk jugs around all your plants. Poke small holes in the bottom of the milk jugs before you place them by the plants. You can dig out a few inches of dirt for the jugs. Then fill the jugs with water. The water could last a few days or more depending on the size of the holes. If you want to water smaller plants, use a drinking water bottle. It would also work for indoor plants. Best wishes.
I have to go up to the top of two tiers with steep hills going up both to get to my garden. I got a hose long enough to reach way up to the top and placed soaker hoses along my rows and around my tomato plants. That way I don't have to carry gallon jugs of water multiple times to the top of the two hills. I just turn it on for a couple of hours when I need to water. No more breaking my back carrying water. I leave the main hose in place all the time, the dogs don't even bother it.
I’m dazzled by the responses. I was just going to suggest a milk jug, bottom removed, small hole in cap made by an ice pick, deeply settled into the surrounding soil. Refill as needed.
Thank You all for the great ideas. I'm going to try the milk jug, that sounds like it might be perfect for my garden. Again that you all.
