you have to find where they are coming from. Find the source and use baby powder along the cracks of your moldings and along the house foundation outside. I swear by Dollar Tree baby powder...works like a charm.
I use "Terro" it is a liquid that you pour a drop or two on paper which attracts the ants. After they eat it and take it back to their home--it kills them. Works well for us.
I've used Terro but only on the outside of the house. Yesterday, I found some ants by our backdoor and sprinkled a little food grade DE and by the afternoon, they were all done. I use food grade DE for the safety of my 3 dogs.
Get some 20Mule Team Borax and mix a little in some sugar. Put this in a corner or other place where they enter the room. Idoesn't take much. Borax will be eaten and carried to nest, Ants will forget the trail to food and then die. I did this and haven't even see one ant for months.
We've had great success using a mixture of Dawn liquid soap and water. Not sure of the proportions; but should be thin enough to use a spray bottle. The ants (and other pests ) hate it.
Try spraying with one of those home made bug killer sprayss. You may have to bite the bullet with a commercial produce. Just look on line.
