I've heard it might be tricky. Is it true? What is the best way to that? It's this year's plant. No flowers yet.
You can use a scissors to cut off the dead flowers while you wait for the others to open. Once all your flowers have bloomed and died you can cut off the stalks down to the leaves. You want the leaves/plant to stay in place all summer but then in late August or early September you can cut the leaves down to about 2 inches about the ground.
Wait until the stalks brown out a little and then trim them right back.
you can cut the flowers themselves but leave the stalks until completely browns the rhinzones feed from them
I would wait until fall
