Tie either Garlic or Preferably Mint to the lights. Squirrels don't like it, and if you use Mint atlest it will smell nice...............
You could try a bit of pepper spray on their “approach” route.

spray the wiring itself with a red pepper blend with a dab of oil or an egg yolk added to make it stick to the wire; it's the taste, not the scent of red pepper that deters them .
